This paper has taken a centralized architecture to research the radio resource management of wireless LAN. A simple radio resource management algorithm is proposed and verified by NS2platform. The main content includes the following aspects:(1) A dynamic power adjustment algorithm is proposed, which the centralized architecture is taken into the algorithm and verified by the NS2platform. The simulation results show that:the dynamic power adjustment algorithm is simple and effective, which can dynamically adjust the transmit power of different access points and effectively reduce not only the interference between adjacent access points but also data transmission delay jitter and packet drop rate.(2) A dynamic channel assignment algorithm is proposed, which the centralized architecture and the overall amount of system interference are taken into the algorithm and verified by the NS2platform. The simulation results show that:the dynamic channel assignment algorithm is simple and effective, which can dynamically allocate the channel for the different access points and effectively reduce not only the interference between adjacent access points but also data transmission delay jitter and packet drop rate. Meanwhile, a balanced distribution of access points between the different channels is achieved and access points’spectrum utilization is improved.(3) A load balance algorithm is proposed, which the RSSI, STA number and the access points’average throughput are taken into the load balance algorithm and verified by the NS2platform. The simulation results show that:the load balancing algorithm is simple and effective, which can effectively avoid not only network congestion occurs, but also the occurrence of a single access point’s packet loss rate being too high. A better load balancing between access points is achieved and the overall throughput of the system is improved to a certain extent compared with the traditional load balancing algorithm which is based on RSSI and STA number.In this paper, some analysis of the simulation results for proposed dynamic power adjustment and dynamic channel assignment and load-balancing algorithm combined with the six network examples are undertaken. Hence after the network parameters’ adjustment by the proposed algorithm, the result of NS2simulation indicates that the algorithm is not only simple, effective and feasible but also reducing the interference between adjacent access points, the packet transmission delay jitter and packet loss rate. Meanwhile, a balanced distribution of access points between the channels and load between access points are achieved, whats more, the access points’spectrum utilization and overall system throughput are improved to achieve the goal that the radio resources are allocated and used better.
