With the development of econmic globalization and integration, the demands of bulk goods container marine transportation increases apparently because of the significant increasing of China’s domestic and international trades. The increasing of marine transportation needs leads to the result that ship becomes larger and wharf becomes deeper, the public pay much attention on the safety problem of the open type wharf when the mooring ship is working at the wharf. Therefore, it becomes an issue to research urgently which the establishment of the real-time and dynamic monitoring system to protect mooring ships’ safety from changes of marine environment.In this paper, we research the features and applications of the key technologies of Internet of Things which the wireless radio frequency identification, sensors, embedded system and wireless local area network technology. We also design and simulate the mooring ship monitoring system based on Internet of Things technology. The system adopts the radio frequency identification technology to perceive the ship’s EPC tags and sensor technology to perceive the related information of mooring ship such as the tension of cables, the fender’s information and the marine environmental information. The network transportation layer adopts serial communication and Wifi wireless local area netork technology to receive and send data information. The real-time and dynamic display, the storage and intelligent analysis of the data which the system received aim to achieve the intelligent application layer of Internet of Things technology. The design and implementation of data transportation terminal based on embedded technology, the terminal adopts RS485serial port to read and check the different types of data, and then the data is handled intelligently and transported through Wifi wireless networks. The simulation of the mooring ship monitoring system based on Internet of Things makes the Internet of Things model of the system more intuitive and makes us be impressed by the comprehension of Interent of Things tecnology.Finally, the establishment of the mooring ship monitoring system based on Internet of Things responses to the call of the country which promotes the application of Internet of Things in different areas. The system helps the staff of habor to adjust the schema of cables and take other measures to protect the mooring ship from danger. The Internet of Things model of the mooring ship monitoring system reflects the ecominc and propmotion value of application research of Internet of Things in the marine transportation field.
