Internet of Things has become one of the focuses concerned by the international society and the hot point in the field of Information Technology at home and abroad. The IoT is a newly emerged next-generation network based on Internet, which integrates the technologies of RFID, wireless communication and computing, are well worthy of research. In the IoT based on EPC, everything has a unique EPC code specified by the EPC global organization, which is used to identify the product. As one of the key technologies of the IoT based on EPC, RFID becomes the important research object in the field of IoT study. This thesis discusses the basic theory knowledge related to IoT based on EPC and RFID subsystem, on the basis of which, we focus on tag anti-collision algorithm which is the one of key technologies in RFID application. And then, we thoroughly analyses the characteristics and limits of existing algorithms for tag anti-collision. Combining with the Optimal Reading Strategy Determinatioin, this thesis proposes an improved EPC Gen2 SR algorithm (ISR). ISR algorithm adopts optimal algorithm for the values of Q and Qfp to adjust the length of current frame, which can change the number of time-slots in the RFID communication. Reader adjusts the frame size dynamically according to the condition that whether the system state of current time-slot satisfies the cancellation rule, and keeps the amount of slots needed by ISR algorithm increases linearly as the number of tag changes. This thesis verifies the algorithm by the simulation on the OPNET platform. We realize from the simulations that, when large number of tags is to be identified, the new algorithm improves around 8% in system efficiency compared with EPC Gen SR algorithm. The result proves that ISR algorithm can solve the tag collision problem when multiple tags communication with one reader efficiently, optimize the number of time-slots for communication, improve system efficiency, and enhance system reading ratio.
