Cyberspace Situational Awareness (CSA) refers to the acquirement, comprehension, and assessment, visualization of the factors which can bring changes in network situation and the forecast of the development trend in the large-scale network. As the development direction of network management in the future, CSA can fuse multi-source and multi-attribute information, assess and forecast the current state and trend of the whole-network which is composed of the operating status of various network equipments, network behaviors, user behaviors and other situation factors, and provide the decision support. Currently the research on CSA is just at the beginning.Few efforts have been focused on the research of routing structure for network characteristics analysis. The study on network routing structure can analyze network failure and test network performance. It’s the basic for network management. Network characteristics analysis based on routing structure is a promising technology.The thesis describes network characteristics analysis based on routing structure to solve the problems above. This research analyzes the raw data of network information provided by Cognitive Routing (CR) system which is developed by our project team. The technology can obtain the original data of network information, assess network characteristics and support network managers for decision making.This thesis’s major work is analyzing raw data, getting the abstract knowledge for routing structure information and making evaluation criteria. Our team has defined damage degree assessment criteria. The thesis makes definition of abnormal route and connectivity degree. A prototype is also developed. The main content of this thesis includes:1. A set of metrics for characterizing routing structure are defined in detail, including damage degree, abnormal route and connectivity degree.2. We propose the analysis method of raw network information used to achieve the abstract knowledge of network topology and route.3. We proposed a set of metrics for routing structure oriented evaluation, including damage degree and network connectivity degree. The technology of abnormal route identifying and abnormal router positioning is also introduced.4. We developed the network characteristic analysis system based on CR system. Experiment results verify its functionality and accuracy.
