In recent years, our country’s economy is developing very rapidly. At the same time, navigation tasks are becoming more and more heavy. Under the trend of informatization, all kinds of ships on rivers need a information system, which can not only ensure the safety of the navigation, but also meet more refinement services. The Internet of inland ships is the manifestation of the Internet of things in the field of shipping. It can reach the goals of efficient management, comprehensive service and humanistic experience. These implementations are bound to lead to the rapid increasing of business lines and data quantity in existing network of inland ships. And the data information of the network is also put forward some requirements on real-time and accuracy. so the research on QoS is necessary.MPLS network can make a explicit routing, assign data flow on demand to satisfy the QoS requirements. Combined with the application of traffic engineering, MPLS network makes a good performance on load-balancing, failure recovery and constraints routing. Applying this to the Internet of inland ships, not only can solve the current problems, but also can meet the needs of future. This paper first introduces the research background and the current research status about QoS and MPLS technologies at home and abroad. And then introduce several mainstream QoS network solutions, which put emphasis on MPLS. The introduces include the structure of MPLS network, signaling mechanism and operation principle. Then take Wuhan Maritime Bureau for an example, the paper introduces the structure of the Internet of inland ships and its six systems. Selecting AIS system and video monitor system as the representative, the necessary and the limitation of QoS technologies on the Internet of inland ships are analyzed in details. On this basis, combined with the necessary of the Internet of inland ships, the paper introduces the QoS technology in the MPLS network, including traffic engineering, constraint routing algorithm, load-balancing and failure recovery. The paper explains the theories of these technology and its advantages on the optimization of network performance. Finally, NS2software is used to simulate the QoS technologies in the MPLS network introduced above, and C++programming is used to achieve the minimum bandwidth multipath routing algorithm.Based on a series of analysis and simulation experiment, outstanding performance of MPLS-TE in QoS guaranteeing has been proved. And its application on the Internet of inland ships can not only meet the QoS requirements of current data, but also provide the further upgrade and development a good network environment.
