With the rapid increasing amount of phenology observations data, as well as the variety use of these data, traditional data storage and data sharing mechanisms no longer meet the needs of data users. Generally, data security, service transparency, convenience and scalability are of great importance for a phenology observation system. For this purpose, the development of phenology observation system based on cloud computing technique is undoubtedly a good choice, which can not only provide convenient and transparent data sharing service, but also can enhance the efficiency and convenience of internal data updates, data management, system maintenance and expansion.In this thesis, we firstly analyzed the techniques of integrating the cloud platform within the phenology observation system, containing the development of front-end HTML5technologies and the skills of integrating virtual technology with cloud computing, based on which corresponding realization approach had been given; Secondly, we discussed some key issues on the development of cloud computing environment based plant phenology observation system, such as the framework, function and cloud product selection, and a whole theme of design and related functional descriptions were provided; Thirdly, we investigated the key technologies of applying HTML5front-end in plant phenology observation system, including access of geographical positions, offline programming solutions and PhoneGap mobile App packaging solutions; Finally, we described the methods and techniques of how to construct a cloud computing based plant phenology observation system. We achieved this goal by selecting VMware vSphere as private cloud platform building tool, which was used to virtualize hardware platform of the data center. Subsequently, we demonstrated the functions and user-interfaces using this prototype system.A test of the prototype system showed that, phenology observation system developed on cloud computing techniques could not only improve the utilization of IT resources, but also could meet the needs of the users and managers better compared to a phenology observation system without cloud environment; Besides, it could provide a safe, convenient data sharing and data management services, which made great sense to enhance the research and application of the phenology data in depth.
