Currently, the application of agricultural greenhouses is relatively simple and backward, and greenhouse equipment mainly adopts mechanized operations. Therefore, the maintenance of greenhouses mainly relies on manpower, which is not only time consuming and wasting resources, but also causes the crops in greenhouse unable to be monitored timely and effectively. With the rapid development of IoT (Internet of Things) technology, the crops in greenhouse can be monitored timely and intelligently-using wireless sensor networks(WSNs) so that the crops grow healthily. Hence, it is significant to apply WSNs to monitor agricultural greenhouse. This paper designs the visual system for monitoring greenhouse based WSN technology and the main work is as follows:1) Routing protocol of WSN is studied, the Routing Protocol for Lossy and Low-power Networks(RPL) is implemented, the performance of RPL is analyzed, Through comparing with the Collection Tree Protocol(CTP), the RPL exhibits its good performance. In addition, based on the RPL, data collection function is designed.2) The function of the server and an MySQL database for storaging environments data are designed, and the network communication between the client and the server is implemented to provide the requird data for client.3) The web client and Android client are designed, where web client displays the historical and real-time data and android client possesses the functions of real-time data update, map display, and the warning mechanism for abnormal data. The design of client visually provides the users with intuitive data. The designed system adopts TelosB motes as wireless sensor nodes, using TinyOS as operating system, and applying nesC programming language in implementing the RPL routing and analyzing the performance of the RPL. Besides, the environmental data collection and transmission in the TelosB nodes are realized. On the server side, Tomcat and Java programming language are used, and data are stored with MySQL; on the Web client side, JSP and Javascript technology are adopted; and on Android client side, programs are developed by Java and are tested with real mobile phones. The developed system has a centain application value and practical in monitoring the crops in greenhouse.
