With the rapid development of modern electronic technology, modern radar technologyhas been developed rapidly; there are a variety of radar systems. Accompanied by a series ofadvances in radar technology, modern radar’s electromagnetic environment is increasinglycomplex. How to make electronic warfare and information confrontation it is particularlyimportant to improve its viability. Because the application of different types of radar signalsin different electromagnetic scene, so to improve the performance of the radar system isvery important.Now, in the form of the radar signal in accordance with the modulation method of submainly include: conventional continuous wave, the common pulse signal, a pulse frequencymodulation signal, and a pulse coded signal. According to the actual needs this article isdesigned the radar signal source part of the simulation platform, and can produce a varietyof commonly used radar waveform.In recent years, the direct digital frequency synthesis (DDS) technology applied in theradar signal source widely. Compared with the conventional voltage controlled oscillatorsignal generating technology, it has a higher frequency resolution, a faster conversion rate,phase noise, etc.The paper first discusses the functional principle of the direct digital frequencysynthesis technology, and then separately analyzed the spectral characteristics in the idealcase and the actual circumstances of the DDS output signal. And focus on analysis of aproduction by ADI’s AD9854DDS chip’s functions and features. This article is designed asthe main processor FPGA and DSP chip TMS320C6416joint control DDS chip AD9854togenerate radar signals program. Powerful computing processing power of the DSP chip withDSP control DDS chip, can produce more than one type of signal; While taking advantageof the DSP chip module with the PC via the serial port connected to PC software on the PCusing the C language, to achieve real-time changes in the host computer interface signalparameter settings, and enhance the operability of the radar signal simulation platform. Boththe development and application of the DSP chip to do a brief introduction, and details thefunction and role of the system consisting of various modules. The final DSP chip as the master chip and FPGA chip EP2C8Q208together control theAD9854frequency range0~120MHz radar signal simulation platform. The type of signalgenerated by the platform comprises a continuous wave radar signal, single frequency of theradar pulse, the M series signal, the binary phase coded signal (BPSK), frequency shiftkeying (FSK), such as linear FM radar waveform. PC software developed in Microsoft VC++6.0environments, you can modify the signal parameters in time according to theexperimental needs to achieve the visual effect of human-computer interaction. Theplatform output signal testing and analysis, proved to meet the design requirements of thesignal waveform generated by the use of an oscilloscope and spectrum analyzer, to achievethe intended purpose.
