Signal spectrum analysis is an important aspect of modern signal processing. Inelectronic and communication systems, the spectrum of signal is a very importantsurveying value. Through the spectrum analysis method, we can analyze the frequencycomponents of signal input, monitor the working performance of system, analysischaracteristics of system in the frequency domain and measure gain characteristics ofelectronic components, etc.Entering the21st century, electronic and communication system is graduallydeveloping towards high performance indexes such as high precision, high processingspeed, large storage capacity and intellectualization, which requires the spectrum analysismodule having properties such as high precision, high integration and high real-timecapability. With the rapid development FPGA device, the resources of FPGA device isbecoming more and rich, and the integration is higher and higher. What’s more, theperformance of FPGA is stable, as the modification is convenient when completing thedesign of the whole system. With versatility and strong regulation, it’s suitable for fulfillingspectrum analysis task of high demand in electronic and communication systems. Areal-time spectrum analysis system of high performance is designed in this paper, using theFPGA as the core processing chip, combined with analog acquisition boards, the serial portand PC equipments, and so on.This paper adopts LMS adaptive transversal filter, on the filtering and noise reductionof sampling signal, which can effectively enhance the spectrum of known signal andachieve noise suppression to unknown signal, while improving the signal-to-noise ratio ofthe output signal. With the optimized signal, spectrum analysis is realized by using thisdesign method, which can get higher frequency resolution than analogue spectrum analysismethod.This paper is focus on software design on QUARTUS platform and programimplementation on FPGA hardware platform. The realization method of each module isdiscussed in Chapter4. And the simulation results verify the correctness and feasibility ofevery module function and the overall scheme design. The hardware implementation ofdetailed design is declared in Chapter5. The whole spectrum analysis system has realizedthe real-time spectrum analysis and graphical displaying function on Cyclone III seriesEP3C16Q240C8N FPGA board. Software testing results show that the design is reasonable, successfully enhance the spectrum of known signal and implement the spectrum estimationfunction of unknown signal. The scheme design of the whole system has high precision,fast algorithm implementation rate, good real-time feature, visualization of output results,while achieving the expected goal.
