In recent years, the Linux operation system has quickly occupied a considerableproportion of the server markets, because of its advantages of stability, security andefficiency. The data backup is an extremely important mean to ensure data security,which isessential for servers. Combining with the reliable UDP network communication technology,this paper builds a remote backup system of the database in the Linux environment to notonly improve the data disaster recovery capability of the servers, but also contribute with apractical solution to the server data security problem.Based on the probe into the domestic and international present research, this paperdesigns a wholel system framework and a reliable communication protocol based on theUDP, determines the communication model of the system as well, to realize the remotedatabase backup in the Linux environment. Aiming at improving the system stability andavailability, a reasonable, comprehensive and secure transmission strategy is developedaccording to the actual business demands and network environment, which can optimize theoverall performance of the system eventually.First of all, this paper introduces the whole architecture design of the database backupsystem based on UDP in the Linux environment in detail, to offer an efficient, reliable andsecure service model to the remote database backup. The design idea, objectives, and thespecial handling in the Linux environment are described in the paper as well. After thesystem architecture has been accomplished, based on which the system architecture can bedivided and the logic can be deployed, this paper determines the system workflow, thesystem function indicators and performance metrics as the measures to realize the system.In addition, the UDP protocol is adopted on account of its fast data transmission incomplex network environment, while TCP protocol efficiency decreases in the WANbecause of its complexity. To provide underlying communication support for the system, aUDP-based transmission protocol is designed, and a system communication model isdetermined in this paper on the issues of the connectionless and unreliability. A reasonablesecure transmission strategy combined with the practical application of the system isdesigned as well, to provide security for both the system data and the system itself.Further more, data compression is essential during the data transmission process toimprove the efficiency. According to a comparation of the lossless data compressionalgorithms, the LZW algorithm is finally chosen to be improved for the system. The wholel system is optimized to improve the availability and stability, with a detailed description andanalysis in the paper.In the end, the shortcomings of the system are summarized. And the key issues whichneed to be improved an focused on in the further work are also presented in this paper.
