The new media era, with the rapid development of network media, brings people more different ways of reading. The audience can easily get a lot of information through Internet always and everywhere; The new media era of reading, the audience involved in interaction,is different from the passive acceptance of traditional media. Reading is no longer linear; New media graphic image brings the audience more new visual, auditory enjoyment. Because of the convenience of new media,the audience can read in spare time.A variety of reasons cause "shallow reading".The author thinks reading tool is direct intermediary between audience and reading material.For the formation of "shallow reading", reading tool should have a direct relationship.But do reading tool and reading’s depth have a relationship? How deep today’s reading tool support the audiences’reading?What kind of reading tool is more suitable for the more depth reading?This paper attempts to explore the’answers to these questions from the relationship between reading tool and reading.This paper selects sixteen common reading tools for the research of reading tool and reading.Reading tool is divided into a number of functional, reading is divided into a number of links.Through analysing the relationship between reading functional and reading links, this paper gets the current situation that reading tool supports reading.In order to verify the correctness of the quantitative analysis,this paper also investigate.And the survey results further confirm the conclusion.Research shows:Most reading tools have focused on reading absorption and memory,supporting communicating is a vulnerable. Reading depth and reading tools have a certain relationship.Reading tools should be improved in enternal integration,external integration and communicating in order to support deep reading.
