The space router which can be deployed on different platforms is a part of the coreinfrastructure in space networks, and has attracted extensive research efforts by thedeveloped countries, e.g. United States of America. Forwarding information base (FIB,also called forwarding tables), which determines the forwarding flow of packet, is oneof the key router tables. FIB is very fundmental for the normal operation of the router.However, since radiation effects such as the single particle radiation environment willaffect the forwarding table fatally; therefore, it is very challenge and critical to providetechnical means towards enhancing the reliability of space router s forwarding tables.In this paper, towards anti-radiation design of the forwarding tables within spacerouter, we focus on anti-radiation techniques for two types of storage mediums TCAMand RAM. The main research efforts of this paper can be summarized as follows:Firstly, this paper analyzes the recent research efforts on anti-radiation techniqueswithin the space router FIB; especially the single event upset technology and FIBtechnology.Secondly, aiming at the TCAM-type forwarding table storage medium, this paperproposes a new TCAM anti-radiation method based on the composite Poisson model.This method makes full use of TCAM s structural characteristics and its coding featuresas well as improving TCAM anti-radiation ability by optimizing and refreshing thecycle calculation. Thereafter, we design a new refresh control logic based on ourproposed approach.Thirdly, towards the RAM-type forwarding storage medium, this paper proposesSHE, a novel simplest shortened Hamming code error detection and correction method.In SHE, We design a new simplest shortened Hamming code with corrective capacityand analyze its encoding and decoding mechanism, the corresponding error detectionand correction module is also designed. We finally test the validity and correctness ofthe coding through simulation.Finally, we implement the Shortest Hamming Error correction code anti-radiationlogic based on the RAM-type forwarding table in the NetMagic development platform,and testing its radiation hardness; we also implement the TCAM based anti-radiationrefresh logic in the ISE, and carry out the simulation. The experimental results validatethe correctness and efficiency of our proposed approachs.
