The rapid development of internet technology and the increasing complexity of space missions have generated a strong demand to extend the internet into space to establish an integrated ground-space network system.Space router as one of the key equipment of the ground-space network system, responsible for the implementation of space network protocol, connect multiple logically separate subnets, realize communication between subnets.Currently, some research institutions have carried out some research on space network protocol and system simulate.But not carry out research on Space router hardware platform.Because of this, we can not carried out ground tests and space tests of space network protocol.This paper make a thorough review of research on this field at both home and abroad, a space router hardware platform based on PowerPC processor was proposed, used to satisfy the demand of carrying out ground tests and space tests of space Network protocol.On this hardware platform, researchers can conduct space network protocol research and protocol performance test, researchers can also study the factors that effect performance of space network protocol.Space router prone to single event upset ,single event latch-up and other space radiation effects because of its working environment (space router work in geosynchronous orbit or planetary orbit).So, this paper carry out some research on the reliability of the hardware platform, for the future Engineering Realization.The design philosophy and design process of this space router hardware platform are discussed in this paper, the details include requirement analysis of the space router hardware platform, CPU selection, schematic design, PCB layout, hardware debug and U-Boot migration.At the end of this paper, performance of the CPU, stability of the memory and TCP/IP transmission performance of this space router hardware platform are tested, the results are given too.
