Since the global economic crisis in2008, China’s book publishing industry has beensluggish. In2013, Chinese book retail market once again ushered a negative growth, and thesales slipped1.39%. While many people speculated that Chinese traditional publishingindustry has entered a recession, Chinese picture books, especially the adult picture books,keep a fast growth tendency. This paper analyses adult picture books’ market from differentaspects, including the current situation of the market, readers’ demand, publishing categoryand style, marketing pattern, using Industry observation, survey method, document researchand comprehensive analysis method, to look for the reason why Chinese adult picture bookskeep a steady growth in a down domestic retail sales, and to have a better understanding ofthe current situation of Chinese adult picture books as well, and then, this paper points out theproblems exist in different components of Chinese adult picture books publishing industry,and reasons of these problems, and then puts forward constructive suggestions. |
