With the development of science and technology, video image processing is widelyapplied in the fields of multimedia and image communication.Higher requirements was putforward on miniaturization of image processing system, which has become the trend of thefuture development. Due to the fast processing speed and flexibility of FPGA, it is widelyused in the system of video image pre-processingWe use the high performance Cyclone Ⅲ series DE0board and the OV7725modeldigital CMOS image sensor made by Omnivision company to construct the image acquisitionand processing system. Through the QuartusII10.0programmable logic devices developmentplatform, we use Verilog hardware description language to finish four specific designs, videoimage acquisition module, image processing module, image storage and control module(SDRAM controller),VGA display control module, realizing the function of real-timeacquisition, storage, processing and display of the video image.We observe and analysis thedesign results through the QuartusII10.0embedded logic analyzer.With repeated adjustment,finally achieved the requirement of system design.With regard to image preprocessingalgorithm,we realize the median filtering and Sobel edge detection algorithm.What’s more,we use the the Matlab to verify the actual effect of several common edge detection algorithm,then finish the implementation of hardware and test the results of median filtering and sobeledge detection algorithm on FPGA platform.Finally,we debug the whole system and theresults show that the system can realize the function of video image acquisition andprocessing.
