Along with the rapidly growing amount of Internet services, the construction of thedata center is developing from the traditional single main center mode to mature remotemulti-center mode, virtual machine migration technology is also applicated in the datacenter at the same time. In order to maintain the communication status before and after thevirtual machine migration, avoid planning the IP address again or modifying DNS, the virtualmachine after migration must be the same layer2network with the virtua l machine aftermigration. Under the background of the new business, the traditional interconnection likethree-level interconnection, SAN interconnection has been unable to meet the needs of thedata center. Therefore we propose an IP-based Ethernet virtualization interconnection(EVI)protocol to achieve the effect of layer2interconnection.EVI plays an irreplaceable advantage comparing to other Layer2interconnecttechnology. The layer2interconnection is including two ways: ethernet-based andMPLS-based, but the ethernet-based interconneciton can lead to substantial improvementsin hardware costs because of the directly connection and existing networks based onMPLS technology will require support for MPLS network rather than universality, whichmakes these methods have significant limitations in solving the layer2interconnection.EVI protocol can solve these problems well through the IP-based core network. In order toachieve IP-based Ethernet virtualization interconnection, based on the IS-IS routingprotocol we design a data center offsite site Layer2virtualization interconnection protocol-EVI ISIS protocol. The protocol is based on the existing IS-IS routing protocol, furtherchanging the IS-IS protocol packets, by implementing their own business logic, so that theedge device of the data center site can connect each other very well in Layer2under thecontrol of the protocol. The process of the implementation of this protocol follows thegeneral software design process. In order to achieve the EVI ISIS protocol function better,we use multiple-thread method dividing the process into four thread: the neighbormaintenance thread, the link state maintenance thread, the routing maintenance thread andthe system event processing thread, this four threads corporate with each other toimplement the functions of EVI ISIS. Through unit testing and several system testing on the high-level switches, we foundthat the four thread can corporate with each other very well, and finally implement theexpected features such as neighbor discovery, link state maintenance and so on, and can beable to run well under a certain pressure and unusual conditions.
