With the rapid development of technology and economy, automated conveying system is widelyapplied in various industrial fields. Traditional conveying system has several problems such as loudnoise, low efficiency, serious mechanical wear and inflexible system. Under this background, theconcept of applying electromagnetic traveling-wave drive technology for automated conveyingsystem is proposed. The paper focuses on drive and control technology of the electromagnetictraveling-wave. The major research work is as follows:First, according to the principle and operating characteristics of the electromagnetictraveling-wave drive, the structure of self-tuning fuzzy PID controller and algorithm of fuzzy controlare designed, then, a simulation model of the speed closed-loop of control system is built by Simulink.The simulation results verify that the self-tuning fuzzy PID controller is satisfactory and applicable tothe conveying system.Second, the overall structure of electromagnetic traveling-wave drive controller is confirmed.The hardware circuit of entire control system is divided into three main parts: the control circuit, thedrive circuit and auxiliary circuit. Then hardware system is constructed based on the design of theoverall structure.Third, the program of symmetry regular sampling method and asymmetric regular samplingmethod for generating sinusoidal pulse width modulation wave are designed and self-tuning fuzzyPID control procedures is proposed, including the DSP initialization procedure, the main program, theT1timer interrupt program, fuzzy PID regulator program, fault interrupt program and so on.Finally, the whole controlling system of electromagnetic traveling-wave drive is constructed, andit is applied in controlling experiment of the conveying experimental model. This control strategy thatis adapted to automated conveying system derived by electromagnetic traveling-wave drive isconfirmed by experiments.
