PID control has been the most widely used algorithms for industrial process control since its inception. Because of its simple structure, easy to implementing, strong robustness, etc., operators have added PID control to their favor. As the controlled objects become more and more complex, some problems emerge. The problems include parameters changing over time or objects having a strong nonlinearity, which result in objects’model complicated or not to be established. The traditional PID control for the complex process objects’applicability is getting worse. In order to overcome the shortcomings of traditional PID control, doing research on the intelligent PID controller is of great significance.Although the existing intelligent PID algorithms which mainly combine the traditional PID control with intelligent control are able to control the complex processes, they need to set some parameters and the structure is very complex. In order to remedy the shortcomings of the existing intelligent PID controller, we use the feedback information, including the error, error rate and error of the second derivative, to design the intelligent PID control’s law.The new intelligent PID control can adjust the controller’s parameters automatically, and it could obtain better control effect.In this paper, the traditional conventional PID control and the existing intelligent PID control are briefly introduced and simulated. Meanwhile, in the process of simulation, we design the intelligent function and smart integration based on feedback information, which are the base of the intelligent adaptive PID controllers. This intelligent controller can improve the rapidity, adaptability, and can adjust parameters online. Combining this controller with the improved IMC can overcome the error caused by the object model mismatching and restraint the interference for time-delay objects. Finally, using the designed intelligent PID controller can get good control effect on the coupled multivariable control system.
