With the development of China coal industry in recent years, the level of mechanization and automation in the coal mine is improved continuously. In order to ensure the normal operation of the various production processes, safe power supply is essential. Many security incidents are caused by the power supply equipment failure in coal mines. So reliable and reasonable power supply is particularly important. Thus, protection and monitoring of power supply system based on computer system is very necessary. And no one needs to monitor the power supply system.Firstly, this article summarizes the developments of the security monitoring system about power supply in recent years and the characteristics of the major manufacturers. At the same time, we describe the importance of the safe power supply system during coal production. Secondly, we researched on the power monitoring system KJ36A which is designed by the TianDi(Changzhou) Automation Co., Ltd for the coal mine of the Northern Shaanxi Hongshiyan. Finally, we improved the KJ36A system and some power switches, and resolved the power failure problem which is caused by staff shortages.During the improvement, we focused on the intelligent transformation of the power supply switches. And we adopted CZB1protector based on DPS embedded microprocessor protection which is produced by the TianDi (Changzhou) Automation Co., Ltd.
