With the development of The Times and high-speed flying of informationization,video monitoring system has entered into every aspect of people’s life, especially basedon embedded video monitoring system has been growing by leaps and bounds in recentyears. Due to its small size, stable performance and easy to carry, it is widely applied toBanks, transportation, hotel, video conference and other places. But embedded systemhas its own characteristics, the control software development of the video monitoring isvery complicated, there is a lot of difficulty and long development time, the cost is alsohigh, and so on. Combine OpenCV(Open Source Computer Vision Library) andembedded video monitoring, this paper greatly reduces the developing difficulty andshortens the development cycle using API (Application Programming Interface) of theOpenCV visual repository directly to process image information.This system platform based on ARM(Advanced RISC Machines) microprocessor,transplants the Linux operating system,Qt and OpenCV to the S3C2440developmentboard, uses usb camera of zc301p chip of the citic micro to call the Video4Linuxcollecting video data, uses the API of OpenCV repository to detect and track the movingobject in video, finally uses the UDP(User Datagram Protocol) protocol and the socketprogramming to realize the image data transmission from ARM to monitor, and displayon video display screen writed by Qt.This article first introduces the technical background, sets up a platform monitoringsystem, and introduces detailedly in system transplantation of U-boot, Linux kernel,root file system and the transplantation of Qt, OpenCV visual repository and usb cameradriver porting. In terms of application, both the module of the Video4Linux samplingand moving target’s detection and tracking based on OpenCV and data transmission anddisplay are designed.The paper has made the beneficial exploration realizing digital video surveillancesystem based on ARM with OpenCV platform, and will help to lay the groundwork onembedded remote wireless video surveillance system.
