Application Of "Verb Thinking" Principle Of Cybernetics In The Elderly Specific Computer Design

As our country is entering into a deeply elderly society, we should not only maintainthe material life of elderly people, but also their spiritual life. As the product of theinformation age, computer is closely related to the people’s work and life, which is animportant way to entertainment, study and information acquirement. So study on computeris significant, no matter in theory or practice. From the "substance" to "things", from the"emotion" to "science", this is designing Cybernetics. This article is a study aboutapplying Cybernetics on computers especially for the elderly, and proposes the researchmanner of "verbs" to deep the study on the "thing", that is the elderly using computer. Italso refines the "verb", so that the research is not restricted to the traditional form and thetraditional use of action flow (process), which has a stronger overall view.Framework of this article was composed of three parts: theoretical research, empiricalresearch and design project. Theoretical research is the cognition and understanding ofdesigning Cybernetics to the readers, which is from chapter2and laid a foundation forchapter3.It explicitly points out that, we must design “thing” before the “objects”, inwhich “Thing” manifests the process, while the “objects” expresses a course, namely,“verbs” can express the “thing”. Chapter2also analyses the word and confirm thecategory of “verb”. This article deeply analyses ’the use of computer for the elderly” basedon the structure and stop, which directed for the subsequent research. The designaccomplished the action parsing of the process of the elderly’s using the computer. It alsorefined the process, at the same time analyses and recorded the “verbs” occur in thisprocess. It imagined the “verbs”, which showed the combination of “verbs” in variousways and the reflects the diversity in using. The remaining part was the design scheme,which discussed and practiced the design of “elderly computer” directly, and also putforward the design schema of computer especially for the elderly.This paper presented a new design principle---principle of verb, which strengthenedtheory application in the practice and developed a new thinking model.
