Along with the quick development of the triple play, network is more and moreimportant to people, repid Internet access speed, extensive network coverage, and morenetwork bandwidth to meet the needs of the people, coaxial network with the hightransmission speed and large bandwidth, so the coaxial network will occupy a pivotalposition in the triple play areas. However, due to the lower efficiency of the transmissionsystem of the coaxial network, the TCP protocol has the undesirable performance incoaxial network. Thereby, how to improve the performance of TCP protocol in the coaxialnetwork is a research focus in the triple play areas.The dissertation first analysis the resarch background and current development of thetriple play, secondly gives a detailed understanding of the TCP protocol and data link layerprotocol mechanism, then analysis the inadequacies of the existing TCP protocol incoaxial network environment. We put forward the TCP acknowledgement agent algorithmto enhance TCP protocol performance of the coaxial network. During the process of thebase station transmit a TCP packet to the terminal, the base station has successfullyreceived the data link layer ACK confirmation packet, the base station side of the proxyconfirmation module generates TCP acknowledgment packet for the terminal agent, theTCP acknowledgment packet submitted to the upper. Then the terminal will filter out thebase station TCP acknowledgment packet without transmission network. The system isdivided into send analysis module, split and merge module, receive analysis module andacknowledgement agent module, and a detailed system design for these module. At last wemake a detailed system design for this module.The dissertation analysis the different characteristics between the traditional TCPprotocol and the TCP acknowledgement agent, the TCP acknowledgement agent algorithmcan save bandwidth, enhance the throughput of the link and improve the TCP performanceover coaxial network relying on data link layer ARQ protocol....
