The Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) is a result of continuous work to define an industry wide specification for developing applications that operate over wireless communication networks. To enable operators and manufacturers to meet the challenges in advanced services, differentiation, and fast/flexible service creation, WAP selects and defines a set of open, extensible protocols and content formats as a basis for interoperable implementations. WP-TCP (Wireless Profiled Transmission Control Protocol) is a protocol used to provide the connection transport service of IP bearers for the WAP architecture. The paper analyzed the WP-TCP protocol in detail, such as header struck state transition and congestion control etc. Focusing on how to compensate performance due to excessive window size or package lot in same window, the passage analyze the SACK congestion control algorithm and propose improved SACK algorithms to differentiate the different packet loss type link random loss and network congestion loss.The paper Implements the WP-TCP protocol under windows environment and explains how to realize, such as the timer control block data receive and send block and congestion control block etc. We test the implementation under different condition according to the WP-TCP protocol, such as connection establishment two-way reliable data transfer connection release and SACK congestion control algorithm. The results indicate that cwnd has a larger value under wireless condition where retransmission caused by link layer rather than transport layer's congestion.The paper realizes the WP-TCP protocol and proposes an improved SACK congestion control algorithm according to wireless communication environment. What we have done can be a basis for further research on WP-TCP.
