With the growing scale of road construction, road has saved much time for people whengoing out. However, people enjoy the convenience brought by the road construction and aretrouble by roads when going to strange places. In order to cope with this problem, a kind oftrajectory navigation system was designed in this paper based on Android phone which canplan the target line and navigate it as well.After a comprehensive comparison of existing mobile OS (Operating System), this paperput forward the overall scheme of navigation function based on Android phone according tothe characteristics of each OS. This scheme adopted the local/server hybrid electronic mapstorage method and Google Maps API which is opened to users to realize the navigationfunction. Then the whole software was designed including function, interface, database and soon. Finally, the system was realized using JAVA programming language, and detailed testwas done as well. So, the paper mainly fulfilled the following tasks:Firstly, detailed OS information of Android, iOS, Windows Phone, Symbian, BlackBerrywas introduced including their features, market occupancy rates, and openness. Ultimately,this paper chose the Android OS as the software development platform.Secondly, afteranalyzing the advantages and disadvantages of electronic map between local storage andlocal/server hybrid storage mode, the hybrid storage mode which needs a lower storage andprocessing power was selected. Besides, a SQLite database table was desigened to store somecritical information during navigating.Finally, the software was achieved by designing fourmajor modules: map control module, record control module, track management module, andinformation management module. Combined with Google Maps API, JAVA programminglanguage was used to design every module in detail.The system has achieved desired functions according to rigorous test. The wholesoftware is easy to operate with its friendly interface and good user experience. So, thissoftware has high reliability and high application value.
