In recent years, with the improvement of the3G technology, location-based services (LBS) has become a hot topic of mobile Internet business development, whose core application is map services. Now, people faster and faster pace of life, but map of the fixed Internet transport services have been unable to meet the needs of reality. Therefore, in order to enable people to access to information anytime, anywhere, design and implementation of map services related applications on the mobile phones is extremely important and practical significance, which can facilitate people’s travel.Most of the currently available mobile phone map services are local mode, it means map providers pre-loaded map data into the phone, so whose real-time and stability are poor. Furthermore, most of the smart phone operating systems and the map APIs are not open source, resulting in a secondary development, and design personalized map services on the phone become very difficult.For the defects and deficiencies of the transport services of the mobile phone map, this thesis develop a personalized mobile subway navigation system with the free, open source Android platform and the Google Maps API. For this purpose, the thesis first introduced the Google Maps, researched related theoretical knowledge and technology of the Earth ellipsoid mathematical projection, the Mercator projection, the Google Maps picture distribution, the Google Maps coordinates and latitude and longitude calculation, the distance between two points on Earth’s surface calculation and so on. Secondly, the thesis described the Android positioning technologies, including GPS positioning and network positioning. Then, the thesis focused on the research of Google Maps API Key access, XML documents of route information access and analysis, distance calculation between two points on the map, subway route drawing and other key technologies and difficult problems. Finally, according to the method of software engineering, the thesis realized the subway navigation system, whose main functions include subway route and station selection, self-positioning, nearest station query, route navigation and so on. The system has been tested with stable operation and quick response, which can meet the needs of the people’s basic real-time subway navigation services.
