Gui-based Software Icon Usability Research

Along with the rapid development of computer and digital technology, especiallythe popular of mobile digital terminals in recent years, users of digital technology itselfhas lost the enthusiasm and began to pursue a more easier to used software behavior andgood design of the user interface instead. The Usability theory will greatly promote thesoftware’s graphical user interface development. This thesis aims icon-based GUIsoftware usability study, aiming at the current development of software icon usabilitydesign put forward a constructive design thinking, methods and ways. Providetheoretical support for the Usability research and evaluation of the software icon.This article is divided into five chapters. The first chapter is an introduction, it’sabout the research background and status, and has made a preliminary exposition ofconcepts and theories based GUI icon usability studies. The second chapter is mainlyabout the level of human information processing theory, cognitive characteristics of thegraphics, graphic semantic representation and a graphical user interface metaphorcharacteristics of usability design of the GUI-based software icon on the preliminarydiscussion. The third chapter introduces the availability design of user-centered coreprinciples of investigation and research methods, and I identify design software iconInvestigation and analysis. The fourth chapter, the author mainly concentrate twocommonly used methods of usability testing of software icon description, and iconusability design principles were summarized.
