Natural scenes simulation plays an important role in the field of virtual simulation research. Many natural scenes such as fountains, flames, smoke, rain, rivers, waterfalls and any other scenery with irregular geometric,dynamic and random surface. Models of these scenes are more complex in the real-time simulation process,which require enormous computations. Especially, scenery with dynamic effects needs a large number of calculations, due to the the complexity of traditional graphic algorithm, it is difficult to achieve the real-time requirements.For irregular natural scenes simulation, the apply of particle system is an effective modeling approach. Particle system with a large number of particles elements, centralized generation, added with dynamic attributes to update the scenery condition,can construct complex fuzzy objects showing a strong sense of realism which traditional graphic algorithms are difficult to simulate,therefore,with a particle system,it is easier to reflect the irregular scenes in the virtual environment.This paper describes the basic principles of the particle system to explore the natural landscape. In order to improve the real-time performance of the simulation and show the realistic effects, this paper,aspects of the selecting of the particles landscape model and basic graphic elements has been improved,puts forward a theory of energy level division to ameliorate the performance,based on this, proposes a better model of the natural landscape simulation with particle system, and selects waterfall as a representative moving blur objects, OpenGL3D graphics library as a drawing tool, VC++development environment, with the improved model to comply the simulation. In the process of building a special landscape model based on particle system,quantity and visual feature point within the selection of the particle elements are optimized to reduce the overall quantity of particles, division method according to the energy level, which focuses on the force analysis,is designed to reduce the costs of computing the collision detection.Experimental results show that using the improved model in the falls view simulation process, improve the operational performance of the simulation system, achieve a better dynamic waterfall effects.In this paper, the improved model based on particle system in virtual reality system has practical value.
