Network has become one of the most important elements of people working,learning and daily life. In recent years, with the rapid development of networktechnology, there comes a lot of networks with different characteristics and differenttypes. Among them, LAN, WLAN, WSN, Mesh and WPAN have developed veryquickly, become hot topics, and are widely used in various fields. However, it’s difficultto realize the interconnection between different kinds of networks because of thestructure difference. So it’s a hot point of network field to realize the interconnectionbetween heterogeneous networks.This paper has researched deeply in LAN, WLAN, WSN, Mesh and WPAN whichare widely applied. Based on the characteristics of the five networks, this paper analyzesand discusses the feasibility of the integration of the five networks, designs the softwarestructure and hardware structure of the integrated platform dedicated to the seamlessinterconnection of mobile heterogeneous networks based on the requirements ofheterogeneous networks interconnection. The integrated platform achieves global routing,multi-network-aware, heterogeneous routing control, heterogeneous data forwarding andother functions. Though integration platform, each node in each network cancommunicate with the nodes in heterogeneous networks transparently without anymodifications to their own protocols.This paper implements the integrated platform dedicated to the seamlessinterconnection of mobile heterogeneous networks based on ARM and FPGAtechnologies. uC/OS-II is transplanted on the ARM processor to achieve schedulingbetween multi-tasks. NIOS II soft-core is built on FPGA to be a coprocessor of ARMconnected with each network interface. FPGA implements the expansion of hardwareand pre-process data from network interfaces to reduce the computational burden ofARM to improve system performance. Finally, a series of experiments verify the validity and accuracy of the integrated platform dedicated to the seamless interconnection ofmobile heterogeneous networks. Experimental results show that integrated platform hasachieved the goal desired and implements the interconnection between heterogeneousnetworks which has high practical significance and application value.
