The passive radar doesn’t transmizt electromagnetic wave, but via capturingthe electromagnetic wave transmizted or reflected by target as a signal source, itcan measure the relative distance from the radar system to the target, and thencontrols the servo system to track the target. This passive mode of operation has agood concealment and anti-interference, and cannot easily found by the enemy.The performance of Passive radar is the key of target location. Therefore, designinga test platform to testing the passive radar in the development, production andmaintenance process is necessary. This study is to design a test platform for somepassive radar to complete all the tests.This thesis detailedly analysed the passive radar testing requirements, anddetermined the general planning of hardware and software. At the hardware aspect,the test platform used master-slave mode. The master module used FPGA to controlother function modules, and used DSP as a data processing cell to process tset data.The D/A converter module used a14-bit D/A converter chip, AD5734, to controlthe servo system. The synchronization485module used a interface converter chip,MAX3491, to achieve the communications between the test platform and passivesignal processor. The web module used a hardware TCP/IP protocol stack chips,W5300, to achieve Ethernet communications between the tset platform and testsoftware. At the software aspect, the test software used LabWindows/CVI softwaredevelopment platform to design. Base on the layering and modularity design, thesoftware can be divided into three parts, the test management module, the manualtesting and the automated testing module. The sofeware scientificly usedasynchronous timer and multi-threading technology to make sure displaying andrunning real-timely and smoothly.System test results show that the passive radar test platform can completelyaccomplish all the tests of the passive radar project right now, it meets the passiveradar test requirements.
