Many countries show considerable interest in the passive radar systems based on the transmitter of external opportunity, because of its particularities, such as anti-stealth ability , anti-reconnaissance ability and subsistent ability. At first, this thesis describes the characteristics and classification of passive radar signal processing and several passive radar systems having been publicly reported. Secondly, its signal processing flow is also discussed based on external emitters, mainly including adaptive clutter cancellation,range-doppler processing,CFAR,passive location and so on. Furthermore, signal sampling rate and the correlation between the signal and reference channels determine the performance of adaptive clutter cancellation .To overcome the range ambiguities, the mismatch filter can be introduced and researched. Finally, 2D location accuracy analysis using DOA and TDOA, the performances of UKF and EKF make a comparison and the pairing problems between measurements also make a preliminary study for multi sensor multi target.
