The Young China association in Beijing which was founded in July1919has aspirit of science and a purpose for society activities and creating the Young China. Italso was the highest numbers, the greatest influence and the most seriousdifferentiation progressed association during the May4thmovement. Young Worldwas the second monthly publication after Young China, which has a purpose for doingsocial empirical investigation and trying to change the world. In the planning of thesociety, Young China pays attention to cultural movement, the oretical exposition;pure science, Young World pays attention to the practical investigation, describedfacts, and applied science. The two kinds of publications not only division of laborcooperation on text content, and both reflect the theoretical research and practicalinvestigation or social business and ideas. Adapted to learn to pay attention to socialactivities, Young World was a publication that had a variety of research andapplication of scientific writing, and provided a reference for social transformation.As a publication that focused on social survey, Young World attached importanceto the investigation on rural and factory. It believed that this was the starting point ofsocial reform, and to encourage the youth to have an investigation to the rural factory.It also introduced the advantages and disadvantages of many schools across thecountry, so that it could bring convenient when the youth entered schools. Moreover,it investigated the local social conditions, and found the way to solve the problems, sothat it could bring some more reference material to the change of the society. On theanther hand, Young World also did some survey to the labor movements in the world,study in France on a work-study basis, students movements, and women’s movements.It introduced some tendency and development progress, and put forward lots of plansfor changing the world, such as established the workers’ organization and used thesocialist system to solve the labor problems; directed and encouraged the youth to trytheir best to make a better future for the destiny of China; summoned the4thclassmovement, and they believed that the socialist system was the key point to solve thewomen’s problems. Except the investigation, Young World still focused on the socialthought, and it did two kinds of surveys to the academic society and the culture of theacademic thought; introduced the domestic and foreign academic groups anddeveloping tendency of the ideology and culture, and pointed out the importance and academic significance of academic groups, one of the more clearly the characteristicsof the young Chinese society was committed to the academic.The investigation of the problems of peasants, students, women, education andlabor, and some other relationship between social practice and social thought byYoung World, it provided the richness of the content, details of the material,scientificalness of the methods for the survey. Furthermore, it also provided lots ofprecious reference material for the members and readers, and preserved abundant ofhistorical data for the later researchers. The survey of the society by Young World notonly helped the Young China Association to research and discuss how to change theworld, but also brought some significant influence to the society at that time.
