Western Xia Dynasty is founded in11century by the noble of Dangxiang nationality, joined by others like Han,Tufan Huihu etc. The whole dynasty is lasted for347years and dominated by10generations of the King. It once became a big thread to Beisong and Liao dynasty and then completed a triple balance of power with Nan song and Jin. Because Western Xia was seen as a vassal state of the Song, Liao and Jin Dynasty, when the officer of the Yuan dynasty make a record of the Song, Liao, Jin history, Western Xia was ignored, it directly leads to the result Western Xia’s history is rarely known by today’s knowledge. On the20th century, Russian experts discovered lots of precious Western Xia’s documents in the ruins of its former capital Hei Shui city (now known as the najieqi of inner-mongolia). This discovery brings a fever of the Western Xia’s research. Lots of the experts written papers about it, but mostly pay attention to the archival history, archival institution and archival written. It is rare to see some of the holistic approach. Thus after looking through tons of Western Xia’s archive, the authors make an original insight on the perspective of holistic approach, hopefully to pave the way for future generations.In this paper, I take Western Xia’s documents as main object of study.Then discusses the classification of Western Xia documents, the contents of Western Xia, and the value of Western Xia documents. The paper was divided into three parts:Introduction, Text and Conclusion.The introduction addressed in give a definition of Western Xia archive. In this part, it is showed that the current studies of Western Xia archive is focused on its organization management system and writing skills.The text contained three sections:The first part:The brief introduction of the archive consolidation. The Western Xia archive is an important part of Chinese ancient archive, so it is necessary to learn the definition, origin and evolution of the archive. The second parts introduced the archive and the scientific archive.The second part:The content of the Western Xia archive. There are the Western Xia justice archiven、 the Western Xia economy archive、 the Western Xia foreign affairs archive、 and the Western Xia religion archive.The third part:The value of Western Xia archive. From the previous part of the study, we can find out the value of archive management system and the official document writing skills. It can provide a good way to know the society of Western Xia and life of local people.In conclusion, I talk about the feeling of writing this paper, and the shortcomings in this paper.
