The cycloidal gear began to be widely used in China in the1960s’, now it is the second largest transmission mode below the involute gear. The traditional measuring methods can not satisfy the need of industrial production. A measuring system is developed with rapidity and accuracy of vision measurement. By deeply researching on cycloidal gear parameter requirement and measuring methods, a relatively perfect hardware structure is established. The software is developed with OpenCV function in Qt development platform. In this software, effective data is picked up and the fast measuring of common parameters and error of the cycloidal gear is completed.Firstly, the overall scheme is designed. The structures of object distance adjustment, parallelism adjustment and object stage are made. The quality of hardware adjustment is evaluated based on image.Secondly, the best combination of the image processing method is selected through orthogonal experiment analysis with OpenCV function. In view of defects of the progressive scan, the paper puts forward a new method of contour extraction and solve the problem of multiple contours belongs.Thirdly, the software system with stable, friendly and convenient is established on the Qt development platform. According to the measurement model of cycloid gear, the edge data are processed to get parameter values.Finally, through the test, this paper evaluates the system on the measurement error and adjusting precision, makes a quantitative analysis of error. Then it evaluates the performance of the measurement system from two aspects:stability and rapidity. The results show that, the measuring system can meet the need of measurement, and improves the measurement efficiency. It provides a new thinking and platform.
