Media literacy is one of the basic literacy as a citizen, it has been the focus of communication in recent years. China as an agricultural country, farmers in China occupies the important proportion.With the development of economy, the rural residents contact media more frequently and more diverse in recent years, in the process of using media they displays various characteristics, the mass media produced various effects in economic less developed central rural areas. Found that relative literatures on economic less-developed central region of the farmers’ media literacy research is relatively small, about their media literacy and media literacy education has not taken seriously.In this paper, various elements around the constitute media literacy: information acquisition ability、analytical ability、evaluation ability、 ability to use these elements,with the methods of questionnaire、 observation、depth interview,carried on the on-the-spot investigation to know underdeveloped economy area of hunan xiangtan town of shek kwu BigPingTai village farmers’ media literacy. First of all, through the sampling questionnaire survey to obtain the detailed data, and a detailed collection and analysis; And then selected the nine individuals of different ages and different professional case interview to make research more comprehensive and more specific, making results more convincing and representative.This paper gained the rich data and first-hand material in the form of field research, comprehensive questionnaire combined with individual interviews and other way to present the central underdeveloped rural residents media literacy status quo.For different groups of added reference media literacy research, enrich the case study of media literacy, and for effective, targeted to carry out the media literacy education provides the reference.
