With the development of two-dimensional barcode technology, different with traditional graphic two-dimensional barcode, a new character two-dimensional barcode which is showed in the form of "text" is researched. Based on research of the traditional two dimensional barcode coding technology, the character two-dimensional coding technology is studied in this paper. The main contribution of the thesis consists of following points:1. Based on the "look-ahead test" mode selecting algorithm in the tradional two-dimensional barcode DataMatrix, a multi-mode encoding selecting algorithm is proposed. The multi-mode look-ahead test and the dynamic programming algorithm are used in this algorithm and the multi-mode combination situation can be tested. It avoids the problem of single mode look-ahead test in the DataMatrix, which will not fully test all of the mode combination when the pre-reading character section contains a variety of modes. So it solves the character two-dimensional’s mode selecting problem very well.2. The traditional two-dimensional barcode use the Reed-Solomen error contrl algorithm based on the GF(28). It applies to the character two-dimensional bar code which will cause the problem that character matrix symbol character isn’t aligned with codeword. It affects the error correction ability of symbol characters and adds additional filled bit stream. In order to solve this problem, a error correction coding scheme used Reed-Solomon error control code which based on the GF(26) is proposed. It improves the efficiency of the error correction of symbol character and reduces the filled bit stream which adds the character two-dimensional barcode’s data capacity.In order to verify the mode selecting algorithm proposed in this paper, a comparative experiment with the DataMatrix mode selecting standard algorithm is designed. The expriment show that the algorithm proposed in this paper, compared to the DataMatrix mode selecting standard algorithm, has some advantage in the result of mode select. So it can select encode mode more effective.
