Compact solid pulsed power source is one of the most important area in pulsed power technology. With the characteristics of high hold-off voltage、high storage energy density and low dielectric dissipation, the solid pulsed power line has become the hot aspect in pulsed power source technology. FR-4is ideal material for fabricating solid pulsed forming line, for it has the merits of stable dielectric constant, high breakdown strength, low dielectric dissipation and excellent machining characteristic. In the paper, a FR-4plate folded line with transverse S structure is prepared to conduct research in the aspects such as hold-off voltage、 lifetime and output waveform. The research we conduct in this paper is significant for the design and application of solid pulsed forming line.The research we conduct in this paper contain the following5parts:1. According to the plate folded line theory, t When d<W<20d, the approximation expression of the characteristic impedance of the folded plate line is given.2. The research are conducted on the hold-off voltage and lifetime of the solid line. The results show the area and thickness of the line affect the hold-off volatge of the solid line, and the relationship between breakdown field and the volume of the solid line is approximately Ev=Eo/N1/B. When the solid line is charged slowly and discharge fast, the lifetime of solid line increases lower the exponential as the working voltage decrease.3. Based on the electromagnetic simulation and experiment, the surface flashover characteristics of the solid line in transformer oil and inner conductor on the optimization of the field in the pulsed forming line are conducted. And the results show the higher the working voltage, the faster development of the electric trace. The longer the electric trace, the faster development of it. Additionally, the electromagnetic simulation gives the inner shielding conductor with area larger than the electrode can optimize the field distribution. And has no effect on the transmission characteristics of the solid line.4. Also, the effect of coil distance on the output waveform is conducted here. And the result shows, When coil separation is very small, there are some "flash burrs" in the output wave. As the solid line works at50kV, the coil separation should be more than7mm.5. In the paper, a six-electrode solid plate line is designed with hold-off volatge200kV、 pulse width120ns、impedance5.35Ω. When the line charged to50kV, a excellent output waveform is got at the matching load.
