With the rapid development of Fiber Bragg Grating(FBG) sensing technology,from our daily life to space technology, the application of FBG is everywhere. Facingsuch a huge market and broad prospect for development, the production of FBG hadattracted great attention all over the world, and researchers had made some progress.There are several methods to produce FBG, one among them based on phase maskplate is most sophisticated and widely used nowadays. Considering all these factors,we proposed to adopt the method based on on-line replacement of phase mask plate toaccomplish FBG’s on-line production, so as to improve its stability and reliabilityunder the condition of drawing tower. At the same time, we could achieve the purposeof on-line change and precise control of FBG’s wavelength.This paper was intended to study FBG’s producing system based on on-linereplacement of phase mask plate. Further, we did the study on error analysis of thewhole system, then proposed several useful methods to compensate and optimize themain errors existed in this system.First, we carried on feasible analysis of this system. Comparing two methods, weproposed to adopt the method of using the manipulator to carry phase mask plate.Under the control of PLC, we could easily finish each replacement of phase maskplate within the writing time interval between two sequential FBG. And on this basis,we did the study respectively on both mechanical structure and control system.Second, we did the analysis of the main errors existed in this system morecomprehensively. After finding out the major factors that affected the positioningprecision of this system, we built up error analysis models, then separately studiedand calculated the main errors. As to the errors arised from vibration and impact inthis system, we did the research respectively on the basis of modal analysis and servocontrol mode.Last, according to the error analysis results above, we proposed several usefulmethods to compensate and optimize the main errors existed in this system. For thetransmission errors, we calculated the number of pulses that could compensate them,and then carried out the process under the control of PLC. For the errors arised from vibration, according to modal analysis results, we could naturally eliminate extravibration as long as the speed of rotating parts was reasonably limited. As to theerrors arised from impact, we could also eliminate unwanted impact more effectivelyas long as servo control mode was reasonably adjusted.
