The apple industry has become one of the six pillar industries in Shaanxi Province wherethere are the major apple-producing areas in China. However, there are many problems duringthe development of apple industry in Shaanxi. For example,the orchard has a larger scale andtheir management thinking was left behind, while being lack of unified production standards;the skill level of employees are low and it is difficult to form a competitive edge in the market;the pesticide was overused leading to excessive amount of drug residues in the surface ofapples, meanwhile, the rate of fruit quality in our country accounts for less than half ofdeveloped countries. Therefore how to enhance the level of apple orchard production processmanagement in order to improve economic benefits for the farmer becomes the importantissue that affecting the development of the apple industry.This design was aimed to establish apple orchard farming production processmanagement system which based on the analysis of apple orchard production needs withRFID as the core technology. The main research results are as following:Firstly, researched the situation of the application of RFID technology in agriculture, andthen studied of RFID technology working principle and system structure. Meanwhile, RFIDelectronic tags were assigned to each apple trees, combined with typical requirements forpersonalized management trees.Secondly, formed RFID-embedded Terminal according to the apple orchard productioncharacteristics and RFID performance characteristics, then integrated RFID reader and GPRScommunication module and transplanted WinCE5.0operating system with the distance of2mand the frequency of915MHz, as well as based on the hardware platform of FL2440Embedded Development Board.Thirdly, field research the whole production process of the personnel logging,agricultural materials for lead management, farming operations and other basic information inapple orchards, and then designed and developed the apple orchard production process management software based on RFID technology which used the c#language to achieved thecapabilities of the rational allocation of operators, the efficient operation of agricultural toolsand the regularly upload of farming records.Finally, tested the apple orchard production process management software based onRFID technology and the result displayed that using this system can improve managementefficiency and increased added value of apple production.This system automatically records irrigation, spraying, fertilizing, pruning and otherfarming operations information based on the hardware platforms of Embedded DevelopmentBoard using RFID technology, and implements the process management of Orchardproduction through GPRS communication module for periodic data upload. This project is ofgreat significance to promote the standardized production of Orchard and the apple industryin high quality, as well as protection of fruit security.
