On The Web Server Performance Testing

As more and more extensive use of Web applications, no matter social networking sites, e-commerce sites or micro blogging site are all closely linked with the network. As the access to the Web server more and more frequent, this causes the pressure of the server increasing. When a large number of users access the Web server, often there will be some of the problems happen, such as server accessing interrupt, server response slowly and so on. These problems seriously affect the stability of the Web server, Therefore, during the Web application development, understand and test the performance of the Web server is very important.In response to these issues that we faced, we studied the technology about Web server performance testing. These technologies include the basic concepts of the Web server, the operation method of the HTTP protocol, the knowledge of Web server performance testing and the main factors that affect the performance of the Web server. On the basis of these technologies, we designed a Web server performance test system to test the performance of the Web server. This test system is developed by JAVA language and multi-threaded programming techniques. This test system simulates multi-user’s sending messages and receiving, which can provide data for us to assess the web server’s performance. At the same time, we compared the experimental results that returned from IIS web server and Tomcat server.
