In this dissertation the design and implementation of the GIS based DigitalCampus Information Management and Spatial Data Mining System is discussed. For thesystem construction, we focus on spatial and attribute data integration, hierarchicalspatial data, security of data and other key issues. A solution for the multi-source spatialdata with seamless integration of technology, tertiary storage entity model, and thesecondary management mode solution is given. The system is implemented using theapproach of embedded GIS to MIS. Tests show that the system can satisfy the needs ofusers. In the system, the GIS technology is merged into the campus informationmanagement system, which is an important idea for the design and development of thecampus information management system. With the application of GIS in the campusmanagement information system, a Browser/Server (B/S) based, three layer architecturesystem is implemented. In the new system, the low efficiency problems of traditionalinfrastructure management, intuitive poor, weak statistical treatment of datashortcomings are solved. The practical application shows that, the system can improvethe campus infrastructure efficiency during the construction management. Based on thenew system, intuitive and detailed data for management of campus decision-making canbe presented. The special nature of spatial data determines the importance of database design ofthe GIS system. In the thesis, the characteristics of a variety of data storage solutions arecompared. The data model, selection of database engine, and storage of process are alsodiscussed. In particular, an important analysis for the handling of main source of spatialdata files is presented. The research results in this thesis show that, a solution for theproblem of accuracy and efficiency of spatial data processing is obtained. For information management and decision support services, the developed systemprovides basic information query, statistics and analysis of spatial data, and in someways of data prediction. In the same time, the system structure, function, dataacquisition and other issues are also described.
