Underground pipelines is a huge and important public procurement network in modern cities, and the characters of underground pipelines can be generalized as various sorts, complex structure and volume data. Researches on how to utilize advanced computer theories and technologies scientifically into daily management, layout and construction of underground pipeline can help to improve current management capability of urban underground pipeline, and ensure the rapid development of city economy. Now the main technology used to manage underground pipeline is GIS. The wide use of GIS can make the collection, query, maintenance, display and simple analysis of underground pipeline data easily. But as the increase of data and requirements is very rapid, the function of traditional GIS become so limited that restricts GIS of analyzing and researching on underground pipeline at a low level. One of the directions in GIS developing is "intelligence". Data mining is used in volume data environment, and can collect hidden, valuable knowledge from which. Classic Graph Theory is maturational in topology analysis. So combined GIS with those two theories can provide an idea and method of intellectualized GIS construction. The purpose of the task is using advanced theories and technologies such as data mining, Graph Theory and spatial database into GIS of urban underground pipelines, in order to construct an underground pipelines GIS that can utilize volume ground pipelines spatial and attribute data more reasonably and effectively to provide more scientific theory base and technology support for the management and maintenance of urban underground pipelines. The research can better offset the deficiencies of GIS, improving the digital management level of urban underground pipelines, and it also has some positive significant in theoretic exploration.
