With the development of science and technology, the Internet has become an indispensable part of people’s lives. However, the traditional network can not meet the new needs of life because of the limitations of it, so the wireless network emerge as the times require. In a few short years, wireless local area network developing more and more rapidly, has become the mainstream technology. The transmission characteristic of the wireless network is that the wireless link is easily interfered, the data transmission quality is fluctuating due to the unstable wireless link. In order to improve the quality of service of wireless network, need to have the RF Ping operation that is detecting the link transmission quality in the wireless network, then need to process the RF Ping response results. In this way, the administrators can accurately grasp the data transmission quality in time.This paper first describes the research background, followed by a brief introduction to the overview of WLAN technology, WLAN architecture and logic structure. Then the paper introduces the basic composition of the802.11protocol and software development model.The highlight of this paper is the design and implementation of the processing module of RF Ping responses for WLAN system. In the network architecture of AC+FIT AP, the FIT AP need to collect the RF Ping responses and report the responses to AC. Then the AC need to receive and save the RF Ping responses. However, in the network architecture of FAT AP, FAT AP only need to collect and save the RF Ping responses, because it does not involve LWAPP/CAPWAP module. This paper explain the module in detail from the main function and the main data structure, followed by a brief introduction to the compatibility treatment of the RF Ping system.The project based on802.11protocol uses rap application development. It can combine implementation of software and testing of software in all the stages of requirements analysis, preliminary design, coding, unit testing and system testing. It can shorten the software development cycle.
