With the development of communication technology, mobile positioning servicehas become an important way for operators to make profits. For GSM positioningbusiness named LCS (LoCation Service), there are several positioning methods, and oneis based on CELLID+TA (GSM cell identifier and timing advance) to obtain thepositioning information. For the lack of accuracy in the value of TA, the thesis presentsthe method that adds the signal power (Pr) received by the base station for furtherimprovement of positioning accuracy. This thesis completes the design of thepositioning method named CELLID+TA+Pr. The main work is as follows:1. In the circumstances of positioning accuracy with less demand, the algorithmCELLID+TA+Pr is designed based on analysis of the advantages and disadvantagesof various positioning methods, and it is more appropriate for the positioning ofordinary phones.2. The simulation and performance comparison of the two positioning methods ofpositioning-CELLID+TA and CELLID+TA+Pr are made. The result shows that theaccuracy of CELLID+TA+Pr positioning method is greatly improved.3. The MFC-based positioning process and the internal signaling interactionbetween BSC (base station controller) and SMLC (Serving Mobile Location Center)based on Winsock is completed. The message transmission and processing between twonetworks are realized.
