With the rapid growth of digital information technology, the popularity of theInternet and the changes in reading habits of readers, a large number of digitalresources appear. In order to preserve these valuable digital resources, and so that theycan be used easily in the long time, the preservation of digital resources is more andmore necessary. As the preservation of digital resources start early in foreign countries, these countries have gained some achievements and built up some successfulexperience and models, and the cooperation preservation has been reached aconsensus abroad. At the present time, there are three cooperation models forlong-term preservation of digital resources abroad. The first one is the cooperationbetween the producers of digital resources and the preservers of traditional literature, the second one is the cooperation between the producers of digital resources andthird-part institution, and the last one is the cooperation among the preservers, theproducers and the third-part institution. However, as the long-term preservation ofdigital resources begins late in China, and it faces many questions and balks, such aseconomic issues, copyright infringement, management problems, technical mattersand so on, moreover, the long-term preservation of digital resources is an extendedand systemic project, any single organization and institution can’t assumeresponsibility of the long-term preservation of digital resources. The forementionedfactors lead to the long-term preservation of digital resources coming to a standstill inour country. Under this circumstance, choosing publishers which are main producersof digital resources and libraries which are preservers of traditional literature tosurvey and analyze is of realistic value and practical use.In this thesis, the two main parts of cooperation preservation of digital resourcesand the users of digital resources are chosen as respondents and combine with thestatus quo of long-term preservation of digital resources to survey some states of thetwo sides: the cooperative willingness, the cooperative concerns and so on. On thisbasis, some proposals and countermeasures which are aimed at promoting thecooperation on long-term preservation of digital resources between libraries andpublishers are put forward. The thesis consists of six chapters: the first and the secondare basic chapters, which introduce the research status in China and America andinterrelated theoretical principles and analyze the advantages and targets ofcooperation between libraries and publishers on long-term preservation for digitalresources.
