With superior performances, walking–beam heating furnace is used in manysteel enterprises at home and abroad. Electro-hydraulic proportional direction valveis the core of the electro-hydraulic control system in this paper. By the driving ofthe hydraulic system, Walking beams achieve the process, up, down, forward,backward flexibly, and hold-and-lay steel billet gently to transported steel billetstep-by-step in the furnace during the heating process.Besides nonlinear, load-stepping characteristics, large inertia, Hydraulic drivesystem of walking beam is affected by the oil leak and other interference factors.The open-loop control system is difficult to achieve high dynamic performance andcontrol precision. To improve the dynamic and static performance, modelingmathematical model of the system is of great significance for analyzing anddesigning closed-loop control system.The paper analyzed the structure, mechanism and key elements of theabove-mentioned hydraulic control system. Based on the hydraulic system’s theory,the paper modeling both linear and nonlinear mathematical model for the up, down,forward and backward movements of one step-by-step process separately. Theproposed models were simulated with Mat lab/Simulink and their correctness wereverified.Based on the mathematical models of the walking beam hydraulic drive system,analyzing, researching, improving system performance and designing walking beamposition, velocity or acceleration closed-loop control may be more effective.
