Hardware-in-the-loop Simulation Study Of Tactical Data Link Based On QualNet

Tactical Data Link(TDL) is a communication link system for transmitting a certainformatted tactical information at real time,which works in accordance with a specifiedcommunication mode. It plays an extremely important role in modern warfare.The simulation technology is an important support technology in the system study.It can immediately find out and resolve problems in designs, and can assist the designsof TDL systems and equipments.In the system simulation it is difficult to model for the nonlinear characters andstochastic characters.And it is also difficult to improve the accuracy of the simulationresults. The Hardware-in-the-loop(HITL) simulation system joins mathematical models,physical models and real equipments together, and it allows the real network traffic andthe simulation flow in emulator to interact.Thus we can use the real equipments toinstead of the difficult portions for modeling in the system simulation, while otherportions can be modeled in the simulation.It can make the accuracy of the simulationgreatly improved.The HITL simulation of TDL systems can simulate the boundary conditions whichis difficult to achieve in real-world conditions as the extension and expansion of theactual systems. With it we can study the performance of TDL systems more effectively.At the same time, the HITL simulation of TDL systems can verify the performances ofthe simulation systems and the real devices. It is conducive to the development ofequipments.The first chapter introduces the research background, research status and the maincontents of this dissertation.Chapter2summarizes the definition, classification, basicstructure, functions and features of the TDL systems, and introduces several typicalTDL systems.Chapter3describes the development of simulation technology, thenetwork simulation technology and the HITL simulation technology of TDL systems,and introduces the main simulation tools at the same time.Chapter4introduces thesystem modeling and simulation. In this chapter we designes the TDL system model, thenetworking protocol model and the message model, and based on these models we designs the HITL simulation model of TDL.Chapter5introduces the program designsof the polling protocol model of MAC layer, the message model of application layer andthe HITL simulation model, which based on the QualNet simulation software.Chapter6is the simulation experiments and the analysis of simulation results. This chapterintroduces the design steps and environment of the experiments, and introduces thenetwork simulation tests and the HITL simulation tests based on QualNet. Finally weobtained the important performance index of TDL, and analyzed and summarized thetest results.In chapter7we summarizes this dissertation, and introduces the further workin the future.
