In recent years, how to improve the utilization of network resources became animportant concern for network researchers. Network infrastructure deployment isinincreasing scale, network protocols cannot be easily changed, and provider network datacannotbe experimental data, or this may cause network service interruptions andunstable occurs. The initial purpose of the OpenFlow technology is to build a researchplatform on the existing network, but its idea of separation of the control plane and thedata plane respected network researchers, the OpenFlow technology has been widelyused in the campus networks and data center networks. In order to improve the overall utilization of network resources, this paperproposes an ECMP routing strategyreferring network status. OpenFlow is the basearchitecture of realizing this strategy. This paperfirst analyzed the OpenFlow technology, the FloodLight controller and theMininet network simulation platform, then carried outa detailed analysis the FloodLight controller, anddescribed the key modules andtechnology of the implementation of theFloodLight controller and the Mininet. The implementation of the ECMP routing strategy referring network status is basedon extending the FloodLight controller. The whole implementation can be devided totwo slices, the multi-path routing sub-system and the network measurement sub-system.The multi-path routing sub-system offers many pathes for any source-destination pairand determines which only path to use for a new flow. The major function of thenetwork measurement sub-system is to analyze the link characteristics and to collect thenetwork status. The data which collected by the network measurement sub-system canbe queried by the multi-path routing sub-system and be used to find routes anddetermine which route to use. This paper also studied the use of ACO in multi-pathrouting.Aimed at the centralized control environment of OpenFlow, this paper putforward an ACO that have better performance in centralized routing mode. The Mininet provides a good experimental platform for OpenFlow relatedimplementations. This paper defined a model on the Mininet that separate the topologydefinition file and link characteristic profile, and implemented a network performance testing tool. Based on these implementations, this paper did experiments for shortestpath first strategy, random ECMP strategy and ECMP strategyreferring network statusin two different topologies. Then this paper analyzed the experiment result and made asummary. Finally, this paper summarized the completed work. Also, it put the shortage of theexisting work and follow-up work forward.
