Expressway Project Management Information System (EPMIS) is an integratedapplication system providing solutions for not only the construction management butalso the whole process of expressway project. Computer science, management scienceand other technologies are employed to establish the EPMIS, and it is of greatsignificance for promoting the efficiency and the quality of expressway projectmanagement.In this dissertation, a provincial expressway project EPMIS is taken as our researchbackground. After having a complete understanding of the task and the business processof the expressway project management, the goals and the function modules of thesystem software are set according to the design norm of software engineering. A novelEPMIS based B/S and C/S architecture, with Oracle10g as the backend databasemanagement system (DBMS), is studied and developed. And we also studied thetechnologies involved in the development process, such as data storage and backuptechnology and we also tested the system. The MIS system mainly includes thefollowing6function modules: the construction quality control system, the schedulemanagement system, the construction measurement and payment system, the projectcontract management system, the design and document management system, and thedaily-business management system.Based on the actual software running environment, all kinds of system softwaredevelopment scheme are compared. Finally, we used the four-tier architecture as thesystem’s architecture, and the advanced J2EE technology and MVC model are chosen,the Web service standard and XML format are used in data transmission. With VPNnetwork platform, the system implemented visualization of the project progress andmulti-level security based on Web GIS and VRML.The dissertation focuses on the following key technologies of expressway projectMIS: the visualization of the construction progress based on Web GIS and VPN-basednetwork management technology, and the storage virtualization technology based onSAN.
