Non-photorealistic rending (NPR) has already become one of the most active research topics in computer graphics domain. In the development process of NPR, the digital simulation research of different artistic styles has been attracting many domestic and foreign research institutions and scholars. However, it’s easy to find that we lack of the digital simulation research of minorities painting styles.Yunnan out-of-print woodcuts are the typical representative of Yunnan local minorities characteristic painting. We reveal its feature and laws in strokes、texture、 color application and creation techniques via exploring and analyzing Yunnan out-of-print woodcuts’actual creation process. Consequently, we could explore and study the key techniques of Yunnan out-of-print woodcuts’digital simulation and synthesis, which are based on images. The research is a meaningful supplement to NPR, having important academic and application value. The thesis’s main work is described as follows:1. The performance of scratch texture not only is Yunnan out-of-print woodcuts’ soul and life, but also is the most expressive part. In order to display the various artistic effects resulting from different knives and sculptures, we employ LIC(Line Integral Convolution, LIC) to simulate some certain scratch textures in the Yunnan out-of-print woodcuts. For those that couldn’t be simulated by LIC, we acquire them from actual woodcuts, building scratch textures library.2. In the process of color overprint, we can see that there is some underlying color randomly, discretely and granularly revealing on the surface due to inconsistent pressure. To simulate the effect, we put forward using multi-frequency noise LIC. Some color will overlap during process of the adjacent color overprint. In order to show the color-overlapping and uneven overprint effect, we raise in RGB space fusing current layer and previous layer color according to multi-frequency noise LIC result.3. According to the selection of different sculptured knives, we need to select suitable scratch texture from scratch textures library to synthesize after analyzing texture in a specific area. Therefore, Image Quilting algorithm is employed to synthesize texture. It is the classical algorithm in the texture synthesis from samples algorithms.
