In recent years, the distribution network has been payed more attention with the development of the smart grid, it is making a stride forward in the direction of smart distribution network. At the same time, the services loaded by the distribution communication network have changed rapidly, the types of services are becoming more and more, the traffic of services is larger and larger, and the requirements of security and isolation become higher.MPLS VPN is the most popular VPN technology at present, it provides a multiservice transport platform which has a large advantage on flexibility, expansibility and security. Voice, video and data services can be transported in this platform. Moreover, MPLS VPN can provide a good isolation for service.Firstly, this paper introduces the working principles and system structures of MPLS and MPLS VPN. The structure of distribution communication network and its services are analyzed, this paper proposes a scheme which applies the MPLS VPN into distribution communication network, researches the Automation Meter Reading service, models and simulates it with OPNET.Secondly, this paper analyzes the traditional dynamic bandwidth allocation algorithm and finds that this algorithm lacks the fairness. So this paper improves the dynamic bandwidth allocation algorithm, makes the bandwidth allocation fairer, models the improved algorithm and compares the results.Finally, after analyzing the advantages and disadvantages of Traffic Engineering and DiffServ, this paper proposes a scheme which combines the Traffic Engineering with DiffServ and applies it into distribution communication network based on MPLS VPN. An experimental network based on MPLS VPN is built with OPNET, three different QoS schemes are modeled on the experimental network. After comparing the results, we can reach a conclusion that the scheme which combines the Traffic Engineering with DiffServ can solve the QoS problem of distribution communication network based on MPLS VPN better.
